Hello Readers,
This is Lauren McArdle and Shelby Ashline, and we are the authors of this blog.
Lauren McArdle:
I am a comparative literature and journalism double major with minor in education. I hope to be a high school English teacher when I get out of college and possibly free lance during the summers. I also want to write a book if possible. I am a part of the UMass fencing club on campus. I am also a correspondent for the sports section of the Massachusetts Daily Collegian. I come from Fairfield, CT. I have a younger brother, Steven, who is a senior and is an awesome musician.
Shelby Ashline:
I'm in the BDIC program at UMass Amherst, which essentially means I am creating my own, unique major by combining several: journalism, communications, and equine management. After graduating, I would like to work for a magazine or newspaper that focuses on horses, such as Horse and Rider, Horse Illustrated, the Daily Racing Form or Young Rider. I'm currently a part of the Western Riding Team, which rides weekly at the Hadley Farm, and I'm a staff writer for the news section of the Massachusetts Daily Collegian. I'm from St. Albans, Vermont, a small town in the middle of nowhere, and I'm an only child.
Thanks for reading!!
From,
Shelby and Lauren
A horse rider and a fencer, friends since meeting each other freshman year in an english class, came together in a journalism class to create a blog about their assignments in class and for the university paper, as well as what they are passionate about.
